William Shakespeare

Regarded as the greatest writer in the English language and as the world's greatest playwright, William Shakespeare, with some 39 plays, 154 sonnets, two narrative poems, and a few other verses, is a man of marvel. Shakespeare has had his plays translated in every language and are the most performed plays than those of any other playwright. Shakespeare's plays, even some 400 years later, continue to be studied and reinterpreted by scholars today. Shakespeare's work has truly reshaped our world today. Surely, some of you have heard of at least one of these plays and I am sure some of you know the basic story line of them as well. Did you know that many of Shakespeare's plays helped influence many popular movies we know of today? View the following links to learn more about which plays influenced movies and how the movies resemble Shakespeare's plays.

As you can see, Shakespeare has greatly influenced our media of today and much of our world today. Just as Shakespeare has touched us, so too was Shakespeare influenced by the stories of his past. Greek Mythology played a huge role in helping form some of Shakespeare's concepts just as his works have helped us shape some of our art forms today.
